Dim the lights, let the wine breathe and be swept away by the "Gotham Lush" (def. NYC Opulence) jazz stylings of vocalist/violinist Pamela Hamilton. The Ohio native has co-opted the term "Gotham Lush" to describe her style that ranges from rich traditional jazz to neo-soul. Consequently, she has lovingly endured some well intentioned expressions of concerns from some misinformed people for her to consider embracing a more temperate lifestyle. "Gotham Lush" is also the title of her soon to be released debut EP independent recording featuring a compilation of live recordings from various venues in New York City.
Pamela's music is a tantalizing buffet of sumptuous sounds seeped in the richness of blues, traditional jazz, cool jazz, fusion, R&B, neo-soul and everything in between. The end result is just like your favorite home cooked comfort food on a dreary cold day taking your blues away. It feels so good. Can I say that? Imagine Sarah Vaughan meets The Stylistics, Steely Dan, Erykah Badu and Stephanie Grapelli.
Pamela Hamilton has performed and shared the stage with a variety of music luminaries from the Jazz, R&B and Gospel worlds such as Mark O'Connor, John Blake Jr., Derol-Anger Turtle Island Quartet, Oscar Peterson, Louie Bellson, Earl Klugh, Spiro Gyra, War, Al Green, Dazz Band, Bette Midler, Kim Burrell, Hezekiah Walker and Donald Lawrence. She's also an instructor at various music institutions and enrichment programs in New York City including Jazz at Lincoln Center Middle School Jazz Academy, The Harlem's Children Zone, The Harlem School For The Arts and The Mark O'Connor School
Pamela will be performing LIVE at Five Spot on July 20th and 23rd!!!!
